The St. Louis AAA Blues Organization is pleased to announce they are hosting a cardiac screening event at Centene Community Ice Rink the weekend of February 13 & 14, 2021. Sponsored by the Greg Holthaus Memorial Fund; our youth hockey players ages 12 to 22 may register at a subsidized rate of $50/player to have a cardiac screening that includes a 2D Echo heart test and an ECG test. Testing is given by the MCORE Foundation, which are performed by registered cardiac sonographers and read by pediatric and general cardiologists. Images are stored within your secured account for future access or to be sent to your medical provider.
Spots are limited to the first 120 registered hockey players within the AAA Blues and Cyclones hockey organizations, so please do not delay pre-registering. Please click on the signup tab to pre-register and select your player's time slot. The screening takes an average of 10-12 minutes to complete in a private setting at Centene Community Ice Rink. We understand that due to the female NGHL tournament the hockey schedule will not come out until a week or so prior to the event date. MCORE Foundation will follow-up with each registrant prior to the screenings to allow for times or days to be changed if needed. We also understand several teams may be out of town as well, if so you may extend the cardiac screening to the siblings in the family if they meet the age requirement. No child will be turned down! If your child has been screened in the past, it is encouraged to have your child's heart screened every two years up to the age of 22.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Gwenn Buesching at: 314-605-0898 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you wish to learn more about cardiac screening, please visit the Facebook page: Greg Holthaus Memorial Fund Hockey Screening or the websites provided on the flyer.
This is a very important opportunity offered to our hockey community to raise awareness and test for cardiac arrest to our youth hockey players. We encourage all if possible to participate in this life saving event!
