Lady Blues Rise to the Moment, Claim 19U Tier I Championship
Championship games aren’t won easily — they’re earned shift by shift, save by save, and moment by moment. On January 18, 2026, the St. Louis AAA Blues Girls 19U Tier I team proved exactly that, skating to a 2–0 championship victory over the San Jose Jr. Sharks at the CCM Mountain Mayhem and finishing the weekend undefeated.
From the opening faceoff, the game felt like a battle. Both teams brought speed, physicality, and purpose, trading chances in a scoreless first period that set the tone for what would be a tightly contested championship matchup. The Lady Blues stayed patient, trusting their structure and each other, even as the game pushed deeper with no goals on the board.
The second period only raised the intensity. San Jose pressed, the Lady Blues responded, and every shift carried weight. Behind calm, confident goaltending and a defense committed to blocking shots and winning puck battles, St. Louis weathered every challenge. As the clock wound down, it was clear this game would come down to who wanted it more.
That moment came in the third period.
Midway through the frame, Lorelei Green broke through, finding the back of the net and igniting the bench. The goal wasn’t just a score — it was a release of belief, energy, and momentum that had been building all game. Just minutes later, Avery Arendell added an insurance goal, giving the Lady Blues the breathing room they had fought so hard to earn.
From there, it was all heart.
With every shot blocked, every clear, and every second ticked off the clock, the Lady Blues leaned into each other. In net, Ava Whaley stood tall, turning away all 37 shots she faced to secure a championship shutout and anchor a complete team effort. Earning her Howies Game MVP honors.
When the final horn sounded, sticks flew, gloves followed, and a championship was sealed — not just by goals on the scoreboard, but by resilience, trust, and relentless effort.
This title represents more than a tournament win. It reflects the culture of the St. Louis AAA Blues Girls program — a group willing to do the work, embrace the pressure, and rise when it matters most.
Champions, together. 💙🏒
